Our client, a beautiful 5-star Boutique Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, seeks an Executive Chef. This will be a permanent appointment. The hotel has 20 Executive Rooms, 2 Penthouse Suites and four 2-bedroom apartments. There is a 75-seater restaurant, and a terrace area which seats 16 people. There is also a small cocktail bar. Banqueting facilities to a maximum of 40 pax. Room Service is 24 hours. This opportunity is open to all suitably qualified applicants. Immediate starters advantageous.
Set-up of new kitchen
Implement systems and train staff in accordance with the SOP’s
Hiring and training of kitchen staff
Menu development
Overall management of food production in the hotel
Matric/Grade 12/A Levels/GCSE
Formal culinary qualification – NOT NEGOTIABLE, NEEDED FOR WORK PERMIT
Experience working in African countries – NOT NEGOTIABLE
Experience in setting up a kitchen
Experience in Mediterranean/Italian cuisine
Strong ala carte – no candidates from an industrial catering background will be considered
Stable work record showing steady career progression
A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in the position of Executive Chef in small to medium sized hotel units at 4/5 star level
Extensive involvement in staff training advantageous
Clear criminal record – NOT NEGOTIABLE, NEEDED FOR WORK PERMIT

Salary offered is USD 2 800 – 3 000 NETT per month negotiable on experience, country tax is paid by the employer. There are 18 days’ paid leave. The company provides one ticket to country of origin per year. Full accommodation and meals will be provided, for a single person only. Families will not be accommodated.
